Overview

An eSATA port on your laptop will allow you to write and read data from external hard drives at a much faster speed than USB2.0. The theoretical max speed of eSATA is 3000Mbps which eclipses the max speed of USB2.0. The one major drawback of eSATA is that you need a separate power cable whereas USB will conveniently channel data and power through the same line. This card eliminates that advantage as it can also power external drives that support power over eSATA from one cable rather than lugging around a chunky power supply.
